Privacy Policy
Who we are
ScoutPulse (“we”, “us”) provides a Shopify embedded application that helps merchants research publicly available competitor storefront catalogs for assortment and pricing analysis. This policy describes how we handle information when you install and use ScoutPulse.
Information we collect
- Shop and account data from Shopify: shop domain, shop name, plan, and OAuth session tokens required to operate the embedded app and Shopify Billing.
- Merchant-provided inputs: competitor storefront URLs you choose to watch, collection selections, comparison names, and display preferences (for example display currency). Catalog product prices are stored in USD; other display currencies may show approximate mid-market conversions.
- Public catalog data: product titles, handles, images, variant prices, vendors, tags, and collection metadata available from public storefront endpoints. We do not access competitor Shopify Admin APIs or private merchant data.
- Usage and billing: plan tier, usage meters (stores, compare runs), and subscription status from Shopify Billing.
- Browser-only data (optional): you can opt in to remember collection product lists in this browser tab (Settings → Browser cache). The app works without it; clear cache anytime from Settings.
Information we do not collect
ScoutPulse is built for competitive catalog research, not for processing your customers’ personal data. We do not intentionally collect, store, or sell Shopify customer names, emails, addresses, or order histories. If Shopify sends mandatory compliance webhooks for customer data, we acknowledge them and confirm we hold no customer records to export or erase.
How we use information
- Provide Compare, History, and comparison-analytics export features
- Enforce plan limits and process subscriptions through Shopify
- Maintain catalog snapshots you explicitly save for in-app research
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations
We use public competitor catalog data only to power in-app analytics for the installing merchant. We do not export competitor product catalogs as downloadable listing dumps, republish competitor listings as your products, or operate a public product search index.
Product matching
Product titles and attributes may be analyzed so ScoutPulse can match and compare listings for your shop. This processing supports the features you request and is not sold as a standalone dataset.
Legal bases and Shopify requirements
We process shop data to perform our contract with you (providing the app) and to comply with Shopify’s platform requirements, including responding to mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and deleting shop content when you uninstall or when Shopify requests shop erasure, subject to the limited usage-meter retention described below.
Data sharing and subprocessors
We do not sell personal information. We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, and application services) strictly to operate ScoutPulse. Shopify processes install, authentication, and billing on their platform under Shopify’s own terms and privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
- When you uninstall ScoutPulse, we delete OAuth sessions and shop-associated content from our systems: competitor stores, product catalogs, comparison history, exports, billing records, and the shop account profile we stored.
- To prevent Free-plan quota abuse (uninstalling and reinstalling to refresh Free usage limits), we retain only aggregate plan-usage meters keyed by shop domain (metric, billing period, and quantity). These meters do not include merchant name, email, or catalog content. Starting a new paid subscription after reinstall restores paid plan limits and refreshes that plan’s monthly usage allotment for the current period.
- Shopify may send a
shop/redactwebhook after uninstall; we complete erasure of remaining shop content and profile data at that time, while continuing to retain the same minimal usage meters described above. - You may request deletion at any time by emailing support@scoutpulse.app with your shop domain.
- Browser-only cache data is controlled by you and is not stored on our servers.
International transfers
Data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. We apply appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Contact us at support@scoutpulse.app. Merchants can also uninstall the app from Shopify Admin to trigger data deletion workflows.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notice inside the app.
